I went to Cristina Villas Resort and Hotel last weekend with my church friends. Here’s a short video of our adventures.
As you can see, it’s really spacious and beautiful. I loved the traditional and homey look of the lobby, the air smelling of antiques. You could immediately tell that this resort roots from a family.
Upon checking, I found that it actually started off as a rest house for the Mariñas family back in the 1960’s. It was named after the matriarch of the family, Cristina Retonda de Jesus. (Source)
The 2.5 hectares of land has several pools in different areas with varying depth.
You’ll also see a couple of sculptures around the area.
This particular one is interesting, as it depicts the origin of mankind according to Filipino folklore. The man is called Malakas (strong) and the woman is called Maganda (beautiful). They supposedly came out of bamboo stalks.
Being situated in a mountain, you have a great view of the metropolis below.
Although I wish that it was more well-maintained, the resort looked pretty amazing overall. I understand it could be a bit difficult to keep up with cleaning up the falling leaves from all the trees around the mountain. With so many huts and rooms to choose from, it’s a great place to have some bonding time with friends or family.
Any nature-lover would love to visit this place, and it’s only around 1-2 hours away from Manila. We rode a van from Farmer’s Cubao to Taktak Road. (50php) After that, we road a tricycle going to the resort. (20php/each person)
