Your eyes are distant
Can you hear me?
You’re here with me,
But are you there?
I can see you
Standing before me
A million miles away
Existing, but barely.
Your eyes are distant
Can you hear me?
You’re here with me,
But are you there?
I can see you
Standing before me
A million miles away
Existing, but barely.
Great post. What inspired you to write this, if you don’t mind me asking? Its very interesting.

I’m glad that you think it’s worth knowing more about.
As someone who struggled with mental health concerns like depression, escapism has become a defense mechanism I am recovering from.
The prompt from daily post “Distant” is something I can really relate to, but in this case I challenged myself to write about it from the perspective of those around me.

Well then. I am glad that you did because, in my opinion; revealing what is troubling you or affecting you can actually make you a better person. God bless you and have a blessed day.

Thanks, Anaida. I wanted to put myself in the shoes of an observer.

I enjoyed this Liz. At first glance, feels like a question asked by so many spouses as they see their significant other “selectively listening.” However, the gentle almost sad tone implies a sadness and sense of impending loss.

Ah yes… there are people who zone out when someone’s speaking. Glad you liked it.
