Where The Healing Starts

Let yourself be heard.

When you constantly suppress your thoughts and emotions, you lose a part of yourself each time. Let yourself be heard.

Write. Sing. Dance. Draw. Paint. Create. Speak.

Find the voice within, and open up.

Healing Begins – Tenth Avenue North

This is where the healing begins, oh
This is where the healing starts
When you come to where you’re broken within
The light meets the dark

Afraid to let your secrets out
Everything that you hide
Can come crashing through the door now
But too scared to face all your fear
So you hide but you find
That the shame won’t disappear

So let it fall down
There’s freedom waiting in the sound
When you let your walls fall to the ground
We’re here now

That is one reason why sharing our journey with others can be such a blessing and bring even more healing; being heard and having a voice is huge! 🙂

This song helped me at a low time in my life. I still listen to it every now and then when feeling down.

From all your blog posts I have gathered over time that you’re a very kind person who actually wants the world to be a better place.
Your writing is powerful and soothing balm for individuals who are fighting battles daily. Please, do not ever stop being this person you’ve fought to become!

Your simple gesture of providing an email to initiate conversation and be helpful to those in need absolutely warmed my heart!

This is so true Liz.. The more we suppress the more we suffer… Share and be healed is the best way. Thanks for being such a support to all..

Are you referring to Tenth Avenue North, who sang the song? I love them too.

That is an awesome song. It’s an aptly timed post for me to read now. I’ve gotten to a point where I’m needing to decide whether to just be quiet (if I can even do it) or to continue to fight to be heard and/or for someone to care.

Keeping silent really tortures the soul, in my opinion. Maybe we were meant to speak out.. and to share. To bring to light what is in the dark.

At the same time, it’s difficult to contemplate on which stories to share and to whom…

But I, for one, am deeply inspired by your life story Joanna. 🙂

Thank you. When you live and have lived with abusive people in your life, one of their main goals is to shut you down. It’s still happening and I’m trying to figure out how to work through it to move forward in a positive way rather than pushing it back in my mind like I have done with so many other things. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who struggles to know how and when to share.

I started to write my Autonovella on my blog, but I’m kinda struggling even with THAT. (https://dailywarriors.wordpress.com/autonovella/)

It’s like, I want to share so much but there’s also a lot to consider.

I read the two stories (as I’m sure you know now that I left comments). I think you should keep going with it. I feel I’m being called to look back through my life to process it so I can heal, fully heal and move on in a productive, positive way.

I think that’s the only way to fully heal.. to look back at the past and how it molded you to what you are now.. and realizing that THIS very moment, you can start again. From the beginning. Build a new path, a new life for yourself. Put the past behind.

It’s really NOT an easy process. I had a lot of anger and denial when I tried to look backwards to understand the present to protect my future.. but maybe it’s a vital part of healing.

I really wish you the best in that process. I’ll include you in my prayers, Joanna. ❤
