Make The Best Out Of Life

Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out.- Art Linkletter

I recently made an open letter to my 9 year old nephew because this is one of the toughest times in his life. He had to live with our auntie while his mom is in the slammer. Our family is still planning what’s best for him in the near future.

For the holidays, my sisters and I decided to have him with us. We bought him new clothes and shoes, and took him out to places where he could feel like a kid again.

He is usually scowling and quiet, but his inner child gradually surfaced as we brought him to church, malls, parks, and playgrounds. He seems to enjoy taking pictures as well, and I even let him use my Nikon D7000. He has a lot of potential, and I’m so proud of him.

Here’s one of his shots of me:

I spent Christmas with him, along with one of my sisters, a friend, and our niece.

You gals are doing all the right things:)

Proverbs 22:6New King James Version (NKJV)

6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Thanks, Rev. He seems to have a mind of his own already, but he’s still a kid. So we’re hoping to still lead him to the right path with love and care. It gets a bit tricky with discipline because he has a lot of angst.

I totally understand. The Word tells us to , Proverbs 22:6New King James Version (NKJV)

6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
And when he is old he will not depart from it.

He will eventually come around, just be there for him and be firm and he will see that you are a constant value in his life. You hard work and efforts will pay off. God bless!

This is a pretty doggone amazing post and story. You have done something that will effect eternity, not just for your nephew, but for those who he will likewise effect in the future, perhaps even his mother. We need more of your kind in the world.
